Vineyard Treated Wood Pergola from Berlin Gardens

Vineyard Treated Wood Pergola from Berlin Gardens

The Vineyard is a pergola with a modern checkered top — an open overhead structure that frames an outdoor space and filters the sun without sealing it off. Berlin Gardens builds every one to order at its shop in Berlin, Ohio, in the heart of Amish country. Set on laminated 8" × 8" posts with beams notched onto the posts for strength, it throws soft, shifting shade over a patio, dining set, or hot tub while keeping the sky in view.

Standard Model Includes

• 8" × 8" laminated, pressure-treated posts
• Beams notched onto the posts for added stability
• Modern checkered top design

Sizes & Customization

Sizes run from 10 to 24 feet, measured to the outside of the top, with the posts sitting flush to the top’s edge. Built from treated Southern Yellow Pine, each pergola is finished in your choice of stain or paint, including Mocha, Cedartone, Stormcloud Gray, Black Onyx, and Mahogany. Step up from standard purlins to closer-set shade slats or full and half lattice for denser cover, and add privacy walls, curtains, or a retractable Dia shade. Larger spans require additional posts.

Why You’ll Love It

A pergola earns its place by shaping a space rather than sealing it. It turns an open patio into a defined outdoor room while keeping it bright and connected to the yard. The slatted top throws striping shade that shifts through the day, carries string lights beautifully, and gives climbing vines somewhere to go. When you want more cover, a retractable shade glides across to block the midday sun, then opens back up for the evening. It is the choice for homeowners who want real architecture and partial shade overhead without giving up the open sky.
