Design & Character

Taunton Collection

The Taunton Collection answers the call for a proper, full-size executive desk built the traditional way. This is a piece with presence: a commanding 72 inch top in solid Sap Cherry that gives a working professional room to spread out documents, a monitor, and the day's projects without feeling cramped. The styling stays formal and timeless rather than trend-driven, the kind of desk that has signaled a serious workspace for generations. Satin nickel hardware adds a quiet glint against the warm cherry tones. It is an executive desk meant to anchor a study or private office and look entirely at home there for the long haul.

Craftsmanship

Every Taunton piece is benchmade by Amish craftsmen in Fredericksburg, Ohio, where A&L Furniture has built solid hardwood office furniture since 1996. The work happens on-site from rough lumber to final coat, which keeps quality in hand. A full executive desk asks for a top that stays flat under years of use, so the wide surface is solid Sap Cherry rather than a veneered panel. A three-step finishing process, applied by hand, brings out the cherry grain and seals every surface against the wear of a working office. It is the kind of build that holds up to real work.

Heirloom Quality

Built to last, this executive desk is solid hardwood through and through, with no veneer or particleboard hiding under the finish. A desk this size carries a lifetime of leaning, writing, and daily handling, and solid wood lets it take that wear and stay sound for decades. The satin nickel hardware is chosen to wear as gracefully as the wood around it. Choose from a deep menu of species and stains so the desk matches the room it lands in. Order it your way and Millwest delivers your finished desk to your door with nationwide delivery across the continental US, putting heirloom solid wood within reach.

See It in Your Space

A wood stain sample lets you judge the exact wood and finish in the room where your furniture will live. Hold it against your wall paint or wallpaper in daylight and again under evening lamps, since warm and cool bulbs change how a stain reads. Set it beside your sofa fabric, rug, and curtains to see whether the undertones work together. Compare it with your floors, trim, and the wood pieces you already own. If you're mixing woods, look for a clear contrast rather than a near-match, and pair a bold grain like oak or hickory with a calmer one like maple or cherry. Think about hardware and metal finishes too. A few minutes with a sample in hand takes the guesswork out of a piece built to your order.

Choosing a Sample

This standard sample covers the wood and stain options offered on most of our solid wood furniture. Each species brings its own character, from the ray fleck of quartersawn white oak to the bold grain contrast of hickory, and the same stain can look quite different from one wood to the next. Learn more on our Wood Characteristics page. Keep in mind that your custom sample is cut and stained to your order. Once it's processed, you should receive your samples in approximately two weeks.

Because wood is a natural material and screens vary, colors can differ slightly from what you see online. Some variation between your sample and your finished piece should also be expected, as every board is unique and takes stain in its own way.
